A Sense of Accomplishment

Do you ever have those days that are relaxing yet productive at the same time? Yesterday was one of those days for me where I walked away feeling fantastic because of everything I accomplished. I managed to do the following and still have time to relax with my family:

• clean the house
• wash, dry, fold all the towels
• organize the refrigerator
• load, unload, and load the dishwasher
• clean/organize middle closet and donate unnecessary items
• hang up one basket of clothing
• clean/vacuum out the new car

Because of yesterday, most likely I will not get anything completed today. Hey, we all need a break sometime. :) Enjoy the beautiful weather!!

We decided to break out a new toy that Auntie Maria got for us at Christmas. It's a singing cookie jar that teaches both shapes and numbers. Kaylee loves the music it plays and the different shapes that comes with it. I can say that her favorite is the green triangle.

Finally Finished!!

Today was the last day of school and I am so relieved!! This past semester was the biggest challenge I have ever had, but now it's over and so is my career as a fifth grade teacher. I have been moved to a second grade teacher for the next school year which I feel will be a little more suiting for me. So now I'm in the process of packing everything up and moving to another classroom. At least I have a summer project :)

Now that school is over, I have been in a mad dash to clean the house, do laundry, and pack for this weekend. Greg and I are leaving in the morning for Indianapolis for the Indy 500 on Sunday. I am excited, but sad at the same time because that will be our first time away from Kaylee. She will be in good hands, but every parent worries. I know she will probably do better with it than me because she will still be at her own house; just a different caretaker. This weekend is also a celebration of Greg and I being together for 2 years.

Now, onto my precious one and only. Kaylee is getting so big!! We took her to the doctor this week and she is now 17 lbs. 10 oz. and 26 1/2 inches long. She loves baby food and eating from a spoon. We're still not crawling, but she can stand up on her legs while she's holding onto your hands. We have two bottom teeth coming in right now which is completely adorable. I'll let you know when they are completely in. I can't believe how fast she's growing up already. Pretty soon we'll be walking and talking.

Finally Slowing Down

Ever since I started working, it seems like everything is flying by and I am always on the go. Luckily, things are getting better on the school end. It has been a rough transition for the kids, but now they know I mean business. At first, I really hated fifth grade, but now it is growing on me. There are so many things that you can do with fifth grade that you can't do with other grades. The first cycle of my internship year is finished and I won't have to worry about the next two cycles until the next school year. YAY!! An experience this past week has really shown me that I am cut out to be a teacher and maybe even in the right grade that is fitting for me. I was observed by my university professor and in her words, "Girl, you completely blew me away. I never give 3's in the first cycle but you are definitely a prize!" She even told the principal that he better treat me right and not let me go because I am one of a kind. That made my week to hear someone say that because I do sometimes wonder how I'm doing in the classroom.

On the home front, I am SO proud of my little angel. For several weeks, she has been trying over and over again to roll over. She would get stuck on her side and then get frustrated because she wasn't successful. We bought a Baby Einstein video entitled "Baby's first moves" where it shows babies rolling over, walking, crawling, etc. I had noticed that every time she would watch the video, she would get closer and closer to making it all the way over. On Thursday, we put her on a blanket on the floor and sure enough, there she went!! Now, she's rolling like crazy and getting upset because she can't get from her tummy to her back. That will be the next step. LOL Once she figured out how to hold her head up nice and high while on her tummy, everything else took off. I can't wait to see her next milestone!!

Only three more school days until a 10 day Spring Break. I can't wait! I don't have any huge plans but it will be nice to have the time off to get caught up on some things, visit family, and have play time with Kaylee. It will be fantastic!!
